Edisto Mermaids

While on vacation at Edisto Beach, SC - I found these great drawings of mermaids by Robert Kline. I love because they are "adult" not cutesy. Plus, they have this great story to go along.

See, there is the "Forgotten Voyage of the H.M.S. Baci: The Quest of Sir Edmund Roberts for Sea Maidens and Masters in the Seven Seas." It details all the signtings of the sea maidens. Each print includes a copy of the story about when the mermaid was sighted and information about the mermaid. If the mermaid was sighted by Edmund C Roberts (grandson of SIr Edmund Roberts), they include an embossed ECR - Veritable Sea Maiden stamp. Mermaid sighted by Sir Edmund do not have this stamp. Even though this book is fiction, the process which the artist stamps and validates each print is so cool - kind of authenticates it in a fiction way.

This is one I had already purchased from Etsy from A Fanciful Twist. This artist was on the cover of the Autumn 2008 Artful Blogging too. I have it framed and in the master bath, so I guess these new ones will also go in there.

Edisto Beach

We just returned from a vacation at Edisto Beach, South Carolina. It was wonderful. Edisto is so beautiful with the spanish moss on all the trees. This was a little side road that we explored.

It was perfect weather for a beach vacation. And we practically had the whole beach to ourselves.

And we found a house on the beach that allowed dogs - so little Edgar Allan Poe Howard and Captain Jack Sparrow Howard were able to have their very first beach vacation.

They loved the beach, although they stayed away from the water's edge.

Edgar and Jack did great in the truck too.

Almost Friday...

This has been a long week. Next week is finally vacation time. Tonight my husband and I went to the Greek Festival in Columbia. I love the food and art shops. For dinner we had Keftedes with Spanakopeta. And then we stopped by the sweet shops and bought some of those great powdered sugar balls. We will probably go back one more time this weekend.
